 La Rivolte is situated in Grasse, known as the world capital of perfume. Grasse is a medieval town on the hillside at the foot of the Alps. It enjoys spectacular panoramic views down to the Bay of Cannes and the Cap de l'Esterel. Grasse is a perfect base from which to explore the Cote d'Azur. It is very close to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Mougins, Gourdon, etc. The villa is just outside of the town centre. All the restaurants and shops are just a short walk away, including Place aux Aires, the square where the daily flower market is held around the fountain. |

By car from Nice Airport
. You'll need Half a Euro (50 centimes) for the Peage (toll). From the hire car pick-up point, follow the one way system under a road bridge before coming to a roundabout. Here, take the first right following the "A8 Peage" sign (difficult to see in the dark). After giving way on the slip road and driving along the three lane highway for no more than 300m, follow a sign on the right marked "Sophia Antipolis," - this is actually the sign for the A8 and is VERY easily missed. Keep to the right of this road and follow sign "Cannes, Cagnes, Aix en Provence Pèage" onto the A8 , direction Marseilles.
. Continue along the A8 for about 5km. Exit at "Villeneuve Loubet" (exit 47 - Grasse is NOT indicated here), paying your 50 centimes at the toll. From here on, for about 25km, merely follow all signs to Grasse (you should be on the D2085) straight through the many roundabouts. You'll be nearing the Grasse area when you reach the village of Pre du Lac just after the last roundabout.
. Follow this road towards Grasse, through Magagnosc, past the entrance to "Residence de Croisset" on a sharp left hand corner, a Citroen garage on the right (you're near now) and immediately after this, also on the right, the road to Digne.
. Continue towards Grasse, and a couple of hundred metres after the Citroen garage, the road curves left. On the right you'll see a big black sign with yellow lettering: "Grasse Centre." Turn sharp right in front of this sign into Chemin des Lierres (and direction for the Princess Pauline Gardens) and immediately right again. Continue up the hill (100m) to where the road divides: do not follow Chemin des Lierres to the right (which is a dead end), but carry straight on through a set of gateposts where you will see the crescent shaped sign "La Rivolte" on an ivy-covered wall (sign for Avenue Henri Benard to the left of the entrance). Follow the winding, gravel drive up for a further 300m.
By train or hire a car
The nearest train station is Cannes, 20 minutes away and then you can take a bus to Grasse or take a taxi.
By Plane
The nearest airport is Nice Côte d'Azur which is a 30 minute drive away. |
